Add shortcut for closing unsaved file?
-
Hey everybody! I have a small feature request for NP++. I didn’t see an area here specifically for feature requests (there often are), so I hope it’s okay to post it here. When you try to close a new or changed document that you don’t need to save, NP++ asks: In most apps, there’d be a keyboard shortcut for “No”—but there isn’t here. So you must either use the right-arrow key to move the highlight to “No” before you press Enter; or grope for the mouse, zero in on the small button, and click. This may not seem like a big deal. And it’s not, really, in the grand scheme of things. However, I close a lot of unsaved files in my work (as I often use NP++ for temporary, copied/pasted edits), so it’d really be nice if you’d add the standard Alt+N shortcut there, if you have time. Thanks!

Wow, sorry about the giant image… That’s just how the forum displayed it. The original is life-size.

Oops, no, sorry, my mistake—the original was that big. (Not enough coffee, obviously.) But I see no way to edit my original post. (On the forum of an editing app? Is that ironic or what?) So here’s how it should’ve looked: Re-image-postingly, A.

should be available with next release due to this commit.

Maybe enough already from this program to arrange a theater ?!
The program has been around for many years with no definition of the encoding of files and transcoding of the file but another encoding … this is clearly visible with the Cyrillic alphabet !!!

@Ekopalypse said in Add shortcut for closing unsaved file?: should be available with next release due to this commit. I was quite pleased to see this as a new “feature” of v7.8.2! What a good feeling when developers care enough to listen, even to small requests like this one. Thank you!

7.8.2 is available for download on the main website, as of Dec 5th (7 days ago). It includes this fix. “? -> Update Notepad++” did not flag 7.8.2 as an update however, and I had to download it manually. Left for posterity for the 366 other views that might be looking for this information.

@Steven-Gosling said in Add shortcut for closing unsaved file?: “? -> Update Notepad++” did not flag 7.8.2 as an update The team generally waits about two weeks before triggering auto-update to the newly-released version. That allows time for critical regressions to be discovered (so that it doesn’t auto-update and break Notepad++ for everyone).

@PeterJones Thank you for letting me know. As I mentioned, this was so others searching for the topic would know that an update was available already.
