            Hello,
I am actually working on porting Notepad++ to macOS. If you have any coding experience with Objective-C or Swift, it would be appreciated if you could help me.

I like Atom, but Notepad++ is more lightweight so I prefer it. If you need any help in developing a version for mac, I offer my knowledge and my time.

BBEdit from Bare Bones Development. It’s free to use. Pay for extra features. Not a large expense if you decide to purchase it. Not an endorsement, just a happy user.

I just downloaded and tried CotEditor.
I highly recommend it. It’s just what I’ve been looking for.
Small, lightweight, fast, edit plain text and highlight syntax for multiple languages, highlight occurrences of a symbol, column select just like NPP.
                          Awesome

I’ve been using Notepad++ on my Mac for years - I use CrossOver, <deleted url to 404 not found page>

which works well, and keeps all of Notepad++'s features, whilst still keeping it lightweight. Highly recommended.

Being someone who found this post when trying to find something for the Mac, I wanted to mention the project I am doing at the moment.

I decided to write something myself, and it will be on the App Store shortly.

                                      https://madmunky.github.io/MacPadPlusPlus-public/

Still lots of work to do, I implemented the features I use most first, so feel free to make feature requests. I love Notepad++, but nothing did what I wanted when I had to switch from Windows to Mac, so the above was created.

This will be 99p, the reason is to cover the Apple developer license needed to publish in the App Store.

Moderator note: with the recent post in this Topic, my attention was drawn here. And I saw that at least one of the most recent links was a malicious download site, so I removed that link. But that has made me revisit all the links in this Topic. Any that are direct links to an actual alternative editor’s official site, or a github page, are left. Ones that are ad-ridden “blogs” with dubious reviews of editors are being removed, because they are all years out-of-date and/or possibly malicious downloads: honestly, if you can type the words “alternative for Notepad++ on Mac”, you can do your own modern websearch and find dozens of those “alternative to” websites which claim to review applictions, and we don’t need this forum to be a link to outdated ad/“review” sites; such links are not helpful to anyone here.
