We should note that to get multiple carets (aka cursors) you need Settings (menu) -> Preferences… -> Editing (box on left) -> Multi-Editing Settings -> Enable … ticked…which by default it is not.

Apologies @guy038 and @scott-sumner, my post on “best” regex and “trying to outdo each other” was not meant seriously (;-D). And yes our primary goal here is to help the OP with their problem. I do still think though that we are trying to make our regex’s more efficient through this process. Does that equate to “best”, possibly in a roundabout way? And yes more efficient doesn’t necessarily mean faster, it may mean less complicated for the OP to understand and follow.

And I welcome having others critique my regex, thanks @guy038, your “shortened” version of my regex was welcomed. I hadn’t spent a lot of time on the regex, I was mainly concerned with looking for a “more efficient”/“less complicated” solution.

There is the View > Word Wrap toggle. With Word Wrap disabled, a long line will go off the right side of the screen, and not start a new line until EOL (CRLF, CR, or LF) is encountered. With it enabled, a line longer than your screen will wrap to the next line.

Since I don’t know whether EDI documents are always newline-terminated for each “segment”, I don’t know if that’s sufficient for you. If not, you might want to embed a few lines (confidential info redacted), prefixing each line with four spaces, and surrounding your quote by a blank line on each end. With that example, you might be able to explain and/or show a screenshot as to what NPP is doing (screenshot > imgur.com > ), and explain what you’d actually like it to do.

Thanks Peter, I had a feeling this was the case but wanted to get an expert opinion. I wish there was a way to copy the builtin lexer to a UDL then make modifications to it.

@Scott-Sumner, you may be right. I had originally interpreted it the way I had, but reading again, I’m heading your direction now.

It all goes back to getting “good” and “clear” information. I was looking at them like html tags, so an opening and closing “version 1” pair.

The OP will have choices now and when they try each option they can make the decision for themselves…

I created a file which includes “write something unsaved”, and printed it (specifically, used PDF Creator’s print-to-PNG driver to make an image); it printed properly to the PNG. I then used windows Snipping Tool to show the tab bar, to show that “new 1” was not yet saved, and merged the two into one image:

You need to go to Themes » Customize page on the website you want to export from. Next, you need to click on the ‘Export/Import’ panel to view its settings and then click on the ‘Export’ button.
3.The plugin will now export your customizer settings and send them to your browser in a .dat file.

It can export all your theme options that are defined as theme mods or stored as options in WordPress database. This means you can export things like color settings, layout directions, header media, etc.

However, it will not export your navigation menus, site title and description, widgets, and more.

To import customizer settings, head over to the WordPress site where you want to import these settings.

You need to go to Appearance » Customize page and click on the Export/Import panel.

After that you need to click on the ‘Choose file’ button to select the file you exported earlier. You also need to check the box next to ‘Download and import image files?’ option to import header and other image files.
4.Next, click on the ‘Import’ button to start uploading.

The plugin will now import the customizer settings from your export file.

Once it is finished, you can review your changes in the customizer and then click on the ‘Save & Publish’ button to make those changes live.

The plugin only exports theme settings saved using theme customizer and does not export site data like menus, widgets, images, and more. You will have to manually setup those changes.

PS: also look at Plugins > XML Tool > About XML Tools, and include your version of XML Tools. Also go to ? > Debug Info > Copy debug information to clipboard and paste in your reply. These will let us know the particulars of which Notepad++ and XML Tools, so we can try to better replicate your circumstances.

Update Feb 25, 2020: issue #11 has been closed; the problem is fixed as of XML Tools v3.0.3.2
